Collegiate Lacrosse Player Has Successful Labral Repair and PAO at The American Hip Institute
- Sema Hasanof
My name is Sema Hasanof, I am a collegiate women's lacrosse player at Grand Valley State University. I have been playing since third grade, I am a senior this year so I have one year left. I didn’t know I had hip dysplasia or tore my labrum, it happened my senior year of high school. Then, I was misdiagnosed, went to college, met with some of the physicians at my school. I got referred to Dr. Domb, who also brought Dr. LaReau onto the case.
So both my surgeries Dr. LaReau and Dr. Domb performed them at the same time. Dr. Domb performed my labrum surgery and Dr. LaReau stepped into the OR and performed his part of the surgery.
And then it was just super smooth sailing, I know half the team here. I just started playing again this past year and then this year, my senior year, I’ll finally get to play a full fall ball season. I'll actually be able to compete competitively again, which I am really excited about.
I waited to have my surgery because I didn’t want somebody else in Michigan to perform my labrum surgery and my PAO surgery. I had such a great experience with Dr. Domb and the American Hip Institute, I’ll definitely continue to refer people to come here.
