Jason Stood shares his comeback story to endurance sports

"Doctor Domb and staff,
Two years ago, I had Birmingham hip resurfacing surgery in March of 2021 on my left hip. Six weeks later in May of 2021, I followed up with arthroscopic surgery on my right hip. After several weeks in a brace and physical therapy, I was able to remove the brace from the second surgery and come off crutches on July 14, 2021. Today will be day 790, where I have walked or ran more than 10,000 steps for 790 days! I've been back, running, cycling, and have entered several races.
For years, I have been talking about a bike tour around Lake Michigan. Last Thursday, I finished the tour around the Lake Michigian. My plan was 20 days and I completed it in 18 days! I started in Hammond (coincidentally near where I had resurfacing surgery)! I went counterclockwise back to the Chicago Buckingham Fountain. It was over 1,000 miles and I felt awesome!
Thanks again for taking care of me. The surgeries had allowed me to continue to live the life I want and to reach the goals that I set many years ago! I appreciate it!"
