Background
Excessive femoral anteversion can cause abnormal joint stress, leading to hip pain and intra-articular pathology.
Methods: The authors describe a surgical technique for femoral derotation osteotomy performed in conjunction with hip arthroscopy to address both femoral alignment and intra-articular lesions in a single procedure.
Key Findings
Addressing the torsional deformity in conjunction with intra-articular issues allows for a more comprehensive and durable treatment of femoral anteversion.
Conclusions
Femoral derotation osteotomy is an effective surgical strategy to correct excessive anteversion when combined with hip arthroscopy.
What Does This Mean for Patients
For patients with symptomatic femoral anteversion, this combined approach may reduce hip pain and improve function by addressing both the underlying bony deformity and soft tissue damage.
