LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY (LLLT) LASER Pain Relief & Healing with No Side Effects. Drug-free; An excellent alternative to NSAIDs.

Cold laser is also known as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or Photobiomodulation (PBM), and uses amplified light delivered in a narrow beam to treat a variety of musculoskeletal ailments. Unlike surgical lasers, cold lasers penetrate the skin without burning or cutting.

HOW IT WORKS

  • The laser reaches into the underlying tissues in need of treatment. There, it triggers increased cellular production of an energy source called ATP. Cells can then use this extra energy to rebuild and regenerate themselves.
  • Cold Laser Therapy increases circulation in the tissues receiving treatment. This boost brings more oxygen and other healing ingredients to the cells while also helping tissues expel unwanted fluids or inflammatory byproducts. As a result, there is a reduction in pain, swelling, and inflammation.
HOW IT WORKS (BASIC EXPLANATION)
  • The laser reaches into the underlying tissues in need of treatment. There, it triggers increased cellular production of an energy source called ATP. Cells can then use this extra energy to rebuild and regenerate themselves.
  • Cold Laser Therapy increases circulation in the tissues receiving treatment. This boost brings more oxygen and other healing ingredients to the cells while also helping tissues expel unwanted fluids or inflammatory byproducts. As a result, there is a reduction in pain, swelling, and inflammation.
HOW IT WORKS (BASIC EXPLANATION)
  • When cells are stressed, nitric oxide (NO) inhibits oxygen consumption by mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase. This reduces production of ATP and causes oxidative stress leading to increased inflammation and reduced production of ATP. LLT displaces NO from cytochrome c oxidase thereby reducing inflammation and restoring ATP production, helping tissues heal more quickly.
  • LLLT increases cellular energy (ATP) and reduces the cause of inflammation (ROS). This all begins in mitochondria. Every cell in our body has lots of mitochondria inside, they are commonly described as the “power plants” of our cells. Their job is to combine glucose and oxygen (carried by blood to every cell in our body) to make ATP.
  • But when we are sick, injured, stressed, or just older, our mitochondria makes too much nitric oxide (NO). NO is an important signaling molecule used all over the body, but too much NO inside mitochondria competes with oxygen, slowing the production of ATP and increasing the production of ROS (leading to inflammation and tissue damage). LLLT works by displacing NO from mitochondria. This means oxygen consumption is resorted, ATP is produced and the cause of inflammation (ROS) is resolved so injuries can heal more quickly.

CLINICALLY PROVEN BENEFITS

  • Less Inflammation
  • Pain Relief
  • Faster and Better Healing
  • Effective for Muscle, Tendon, Joint & Neuropathic Pain
  • Effective for Non-Healing Wounds
  • NON-INVASIVE, DRUG-FREE, NON-TOXIC, NO SIDE EFFECTS and IT HELPS YOU HEAL

WHO IS A CANDIDATE?

  • Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) requires an evaluation by a Physical Therapist
  • LLLT can treat numerous Acute, Subacute or Chronic conditions:
    • Acute or Chronic Tendinopathies
    • Sprains and Strains
    • Osteoarthritis
    • Post-operative pain
    • Tissue healing
    • Local edema/inflammation
    • Wound/incision healing

TREATMENT

  • You should not feel anything other than some warmth. Treatment time is typically 5-15 min, but the length of each session depends on your condition and the plan of care developed by your physical therapist. Frequency of treatments should be two or more times a week. The number of treatments needed depend on the chronicity of your condition, but typically 6-12 sessions.
  • Improves tissue repair, reduces pain and inflammation where the beam is applied.

RESULTS

  • Significant reduction of inflammation equal or better to NSAIDs within 2 hours, analgesic effects that last for 48 hours, and healing time of chronic tendinopathies reduced by 70%.
  • NSAIDs slow healing and often have side effects whereas LLLT actually improves healing, as well as reducing inflammation and pain.

LLLT IS SAFER AND MORE EFFECTIVE

  • Over 400 LLLT clinical trials (RCTs) and over 4,000 laboratory studies have been published. It has proven more effective and safer than pharmaceutical anti-inflammatories across a range of musculoskeletal conditions. LLLT also improves healing and reduces mm fatigue, muscle damage and DOMS.
  • Corticosteroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can slow down the healing process and cause harmful side effects in some patients, especially when used for extended periods of time. These drug treatments are a well known problem and experts all over the world are warning doctors, therapists and patients about the risk to health, particularly after long term use.
  • Unlike NSAIDs, LLLT has no harmful side effects. LLLT is more effective because it improves the speed and quality of tissue repair as well as reducing inflammation and pain. LLLT was discovered in 1967, since then there have been over 700 clinical trials (RCTs) and no significant adverse effects reported. LLLT often works where drugs do not, especially for the treatment of myofascial and neuropathic pain.
