The Value of Medical Research for Orthopedic Patients

Medical research studies greatly contribute to patient outcomes and give us evidence-based knowledge about orthopedic treatment options. Research studies are an important factor for continuing to improve outcomes for all orthopedic patients.

Our mission at the American Hip Institute is to educate, innovate and offer the most advanced and comprehensive treatment options for injuries of the hip joint and other orthopedic injuries. As part of our ongoing operations, our staff and providers also contribute daily time and effort to our research organization, the American Hip Institute Research Foundation.

The American Hip Institute Research Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to education, research and cutting-edge minimally-invasive treatment for patients with hip pain. Our Foundation has made many recent advances in the field of Hip Preservation and Restoration. New surgical techniques, which have resulted from these advances, include hip arthroscopy, osteotomy, hip resurfacing, minimally-invasive hip replacement and robotic surgery, as well as nonsurgical treatment options. These advances can allow patients to quickly return to sports, work and an active lifestyle.

Educations, Research and Innovation

The Institute, as a foundation, is also devoted to training surgeons as future leaders through the Institute’s Comprehensive Hip Fellowship, the annual Chicago Hip Symposium, and educational materials for surgeons. Through extensive clinical and biomechanical research, our nationally-renowned surgeons and scientists have created new surgical procedures and published multiple studies establishing their effectiveness.

Our ultimate goal is to improve patients’ conditions through improved clinical outcomes and clinical research. With over 300 publications, research is the cornerstone of AHI’s practice.
